About The Role

The Role

Career Programme Assistants (CPAs) play a crucial role in the delivery of our educational events for young people aged 15-18. As a CPA, you will assist with event logistics, provide pastoral support for our students, and contribute your expertise to the industry content.

CPAs are assigned to relevant programmes based on their studies, experience and interests. You may submit a career preference in your application. For a full list of the career experiences you may support on, head to https://investin.org/collections/our-programmes.

SITE 

During the summer holidays, we deliver immersive Summer Experiences designed to give students a 360-degree insight into their dream career. Led by industry professionals, our programmes offer up to 65 hours of hands-on experience, including visits to real workplaces, professional development coaching, and exclusive networking opportunities.

Our Summer Experiences are based on-campus in central London at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities, including University College London (UCL), the London School of Economics (LSE), and the University of London. Students can choose to attend a one-week, two-week, or two-week Premium programme, with the option to study on a non-residential or residential basis.

We also run additional one-day masterclasses in November and March to give students a taster of the industry.

Renumeration: £13/hour

Hours: Event days typically run from 9am - 6pm, with the option of full days, half days, and single sessions. Your Programme Manager will inform you of all available shift opportunities via email.

Main Duties: 

While no two days supporting our programmes are the same, tasks on a typical day as a Career Programme Assistant might include:

  • Assisting with programme logistics including event set-up, resource management, escorted travel to and from venues and rotation support
  • Sharing your industry and university experience with our students through supporting with career coaching sessions, personal statements and university applications
  • Facilitating activities and supporting our key speakers through encouraging group work, providing student feedback, handing out materials and managing behaviour in the room
  • Opportunities to create and deliver content such as running icebreakers, participating in role-playing activities, sitting on panel Q&As or delivering foundation skill sessions
  • Helping with end of day pack down and transport to storage
  • Carry out student registration and maintain attendance records
  • Looking out for student health and wellbeing and escalating through the right channels
  • Be proactive in sharing ideas to improve the programme experience

About You

INVESTIN PERSON SPECIFICATION

You are an organised and detail-oriented university student, or recent graduate, looking to gain experience in events management and/or education. You thrive under pressure and love to work in a busy, fast-paced environment. You are a fast learner who is enthusiastic, proactive and great at taking initiative.

You exhibit a can-do attitude and demonstrate a high level of ownership and professionalism when approaching your work. You are excited to work with a rapidly scaling start-up aiming to support school students aged 15-18 in achieving their dream careers.

You have, and can demonstrate, the following essential skills and interests:

  • Experience working in fast-paced environments such as events, hospitality or retail
  • Fantastic organisational skills, ability to balance multiple priorities and manage time efficiently
  • Confidence in communicating and public speaking with a range of stakeholders
  • Proactivity in problem-solving and an ability to adapt under pressure
  • Leadership qualities in group work scenario
  • An energetic, enthusiastic and friendly approach

Desirable skills and experience

  • Student Ambassador or outreach roles
  • Relevant industry work experience e.g. vet clinic experience for the vet programme
  • Previous experience working with young people under 18, in a paid or voluntary role
